Several Forney ISD Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) cadets recently attended and graduated from two separate Leadership Courses held at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. A total of 16 AFJROTC cadets participated in the Leadership Courses.
The first Leadership Course was the Cadet Staff Leadership Course (CSLC). Cadets that attended the CSLC course were Aidan Odle (Distinguished Graduate and Military of World Wars Award recipient), Kristopher Benford (Spirit Award for the entire camp), Rhane Bishop, Eliza Cervantes, Keeton Green, Taylor Pearson, Sara Redwine and Karla Rocha. There were a total of 16 schools for CSLC and 180 cadets in attendance.
The second Leadership Course was the Cadet Leadership Course (CLC). Forney ISD AFJROTC cadets that attended the CLC were Benjamin Barberiz, Samuel Barnes, Zakary Clark, Chilton (Brig) Conner, Brittany Howell, Ethan Isbell, Josh McCoy, and Jacob Rodriguez. There were a total of 21 schools for CLC and 229 cadets in attendance.

The purpose of the courses was to provide leadership training for AFJROTC cadets that will be in the grades sophomores to seniors for the upcoming school year with an emphasis on the mission of developing the cadets into leaders capable of running their respective Corps (Unit) or programs. This is done through an extensive, week-long program of seminar-based course of instruction, guided discussion on leadership, corps management, corps operations and communication. Daily activities included physical training (PT), room inspections, personal inspection, drill and ceremonies with an emphasis geared toward developing personal attributes key to every leader. Team building activities to include parade practice, team sports, team challenges and other flight-based activities developed and encouraged cooperative attitudes and problem-solving skills.
